High
Speed, Efficient Discovery,
Classification and Management of Network
Data
Enterprise data
networks, including networked attached
storage and file servers, contain a
large amount of important data.
Understanding and profiling
this information is a challenge due to
the significant volume and diversity of
the content. It is critical to index this
content to gain the insight necessary to
implement a solid information management
policy.
Index Engines LAN
Engine ingests network data more
efficiently than other indexing
solutions. LAN Engine is the only
commercially available indexing solution
that uses either high speed Network Data
Management Protocols (NDMP) or
multi-threaded NFS/CIFS scanning to
scan network data. With Index Engines
indexing occurs at speeds several orders
of magnitude
faster than other indexing approaches.
The noninvasive NDMP
method pushes incremental data to the
LAN Engine for indexing, at speeds up to
70 MB per second. The resulting index is
generated with a footprint that is only
5 to 8% of the original files.
Multi-threaded crawling allows for the
processing of data that is not centrally
stored on an NDMP enabled file server.
With either approach, or using a
combination of the two methods, the LAN
Engine is optimized to index large data
repositories quickly and efficiently in
order to improve access and management
of network content.
No other solution
can index data as efficiently as Index
Engines LAN Engine. The technology is
so unique it is patent pending. Contact
