HOLMDEL, NJ — May 18, 2009 — Index Engines, providers of the fastest enterprise discovery technology on the market, announced today that Network Products Guide, industry’s leading publication on information technologies and solutions has named the Tape Engine, a winner of the 2009 Product Innovation Award. This annually venerated award recognizes and honors vendors from all over the world with innovative and ground-breaking products that are bringing essential and incremental changes and are setting the bar higher for others in all areas of information technology.
“Innovation is clearly an important factor for greater success and has the most impact on staying competitive," says Rake Narang, editor-in-chief of Network Products Guide. “Index Engines Tape Engine award winning innovation is bringing improvements to search and discovery efforts over the vast stores of enterprise data.”
“Network Products Guide’s recognition of Index Engines further validates our solutions as excellent-in-class and ahead of the curve,” said Jim McGann, Vice President of Marketing for Index Engines “Product innovation is key to our continued commitment to meeting our customers’ needs and providing them with solutions that are ground-breaking. The Tape Engine allows enterprise IT teams to search and discovery backup data with unmatched speed, accuracy and affordability.”
Index Engines Tape Engine automates the process of searching and extracting data from offline tapes without the original backup software. Using the Tape Engine, backup data is directly indexed and the data is immediately searchable. Users can quickly find what they need, restoring only relevant files and email, rather than restoring the entire tape contents, indexing the data, and then commencing the search process. No other solution can directly index backup data allowing for full text and metadata search. The Tape Engine directly indexes offline tapes, as well and disk-based backup and VTLs (virtual tape libraries). The unmatched capabilities of this technology limit the time and cost associated with backup data discovery efforts that have historically needed to restore large amounts of unwanted data to access case specific information. Index Engines is now taking orders for the Tape Engine, delivery scheduled within two weeks. Price and availability are dependant on configuration.
