ORLANDO, FLA. - Storage Networking World, Booth PP30 - October 25, 2005 - Index Engines, a leading developer of indexing software and appliances for the enterprise, today announced the availability of a software development kit (SDK) that will enable programmers to develop applications that take advantage of Index Engines’ comprehensive data index. The SDK is based on the Index Engines platform, which enables high speed bulk inline indexing of unstructured data enterprise wide while requiring significantly less time and index storage as compared to other solutions. Providing access to this index through the Index Engines SDK will allow developers to focus on building powerful applications without worrying about how these applications will access the required information.

Included in the Index Engines SDK are application programming interfaces (APIs) for the platform’s query engine that allow applications to find data containing specific keywords or metadata (such as “author” or “date”). Additionally the SDK will provide IP access to populate the index in order to generate an index of archived content such as tape image formats or other storage repositories. The unique aspects of this indexing platform are the ability to process data at line speeds (up to 100 MB/second) as well as the efficient storage of the index (requiring only 8% of the original data and supporting over four billion documents). These design criteria allow for the indexing of a typical enterprise data repository with never before achieved speed and significantly reduced storage requirements.
